An issue that matters to me is [youth] leadership. As I observed the leadership pursuits of my peers, I saw how easily good intentioned-leaders became corrupted leaders, and how charismatic leaders became narcissistic. Some leaders that I admire in history are Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela who not only voiced the many injustices against people of African descent, but who also called for equality for all. Leaders produce leaders not followers. They encourage independence in those that they lead and they always aspire to achieve what is best for the team. A good leader knows that in order to gain respect, he/she must first show it. A good leader is always willing to provide support, moral or otherwise to the team. I am very much concerned about the issue of children and youth. It is my desire and interest to see that I fight social vices like child abuse, illiteracy among young girls and boys and ensure that they are shaped into good citizens. This is part of my agenda also as a teacher. ( lire plus...)
